Dudley Herschbach Teacher/Scientist Lecture: IBiology - New Opportunities for Learning Biology through the Internet
Join Ron Vale, Professor and Vice-Chair, Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology, The University of California, for the Dudley Herschbach Teacher / Scientist Lecture on iBiology - New Opportunities for Learning Biology through the Internet
Traditionally, oral communication of science has occurred through university seminars and scientific meetings. But the Internet now provides an additional medium for transmitting the "stories of science". I will discuss the founding, current projects, and future directions of iBiology.org, an NSF-NIH funded effort dedicated to filming talks by outstanding life scientists and making them freely available throughout the world. I also will discuss the opportunities and challenges of using the Internet for educating diverse audiences about scientific research.
