The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology's Charles Lieber and Xiaowei Zhuang have been elected as foreign members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in recognition of their "scientific achievements and contributions made to the promoting of the development of science and technology in China”. In addition to their own accomplishments, they have trained many Chinese students, made countless trips to China, and have had strong influence in Chinese science.
