Award Amount: $200,000
Eligible applicants: Early Career Scientists (within 10 years of degree) and Senior Scientists (15 or more years from degree)

Harvard has been invited to submit nominations for the new Innovators in Science Award sponsored by the Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited and administered by the New York Academy of Sciences. The 2017 Innovators in Science Award recognizes a promising Early-Career Scientist and an outstanding Senior Scientist’s contributions to science in the therapeutic area of Neuroscience, and is intended to support their commitment to innovative research.  Two prizes will be awarded, one to an Early-Career Scientist and the other to a well-established Senior Scientist from across the globe who have distinguished themselves for the creative thinking and impact of their research.  

An eligible Early-Career Scientist nominee must:

  • Have been engaged in active research for a length of time of 10 years or less since gaining their doctorate degree or equivalent.  Extensions to the eligibility timeframe may be made for maternity, paternity, adoptive, family care, military or extended sick leave.
  • Hold a doctorate degree (PhD, DPhil, MD, DDS, DVM, etc.).
  • Currently hold a junior level Post-doctoral or Faculty position
  • Have made impactful research contributions and show exceptional promise for significant future achievement in the Award field.

An eligible Senior Scientist nominee must:

  • Have been engaged in active research for a length of time of 15 years or longer since gaining their doctorate degree or equivalent.
  • Hold a doctorate degree (PhD, DPhil, MD, DDS, DVM, etc.). 
  • Currently hold a senior level Faculty position
  • Have made multiple, extensive, and impactful research contributions to advance the Award field.
