NSF Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program
Harvard FAS Pre-Proposal Deadline: October 9, 2013 by 5PM
Award Amount: $100,000 to $4 million
Target Disciplines: All NSF-supported disciplines

The NSF MRI program is designed to increase access to shared scientific and engineering instruments for research and research training, and to foster the integration of research and education by providing instrumentation for research-intensive learning environments. The MRI Program encourages the development and acquisition of research instrumentation for shared inter- and/or intra-organizational use and in concert with private sector partners. Proposals must be for either acquisition or development of a single instrument or for equipment that, when combined, serves as an integrated research instrument (physical or virtual). Harvard is able to submit three applications, two of which may be for instrument acquisition.  This program requires cost sharing at a level of 30% of the total project costs.
