These multi-investigator, multi-disciplinary centers accelerate transformative scientific advances for the most challenging topics in materials sciences, chemical sciences, geosciences, and biosciences. EFRCs integrate synthesis, characterization, theory, computation, and data science; develop innovative experimental and theoretical tools that illuminate fundamental processes in unprecedented detail; and create an enthusiastic, interdisciplinary, diverse community of energy-focused scientists.</span></span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	 </p><p style="margin:0in">	<span><span><span>This funding opportunity solicits applications for new EFRCs that will perform basic science to address:</span></span></span></p><ol style="margin-bottom:0in; margin-top:0in">	<li style="margin:0in"> <span>Co-design of materials and processes to revolutionize microelectronics and/or QIS fabrication, and/or</span>	</li>	<li style="margin:0in"> <span>Environmental management related to cleanup of nuclear waste.</span>	</li></ol><p style="margin:0in">	<span><span><span>Applicants are encouraged to refer to the RFP for additional information about the two priority research areas: <a href="https://fas.benchurl.com/c/l?u=10A5E815&amp;e=1783AA3&amp;c=139A85&amp;t=0&amp;l=C8DCEEE6&amp;email=cgy/HhSp6bhwaZHoUjaEP7CtcXm/wIvNQZ0OJmuySec=&amp;seq=1" target="_blank" title="https://fas.benchurl.com/c/l?u=10A5E815&amp;e=1783AA3&amp;c=139A85&amp;t=0&amp;l=C8DCEEE6&amp;email=cgy%2FHhSp6bhwaZHoUjaEP7CtcXm%2FwIvNQZ0OJmuySec%3D&amp;seq=1"><span style="color:blue">https://science.osti.gov/bes/-/media/grants/pdf/foas/2024/DE-FOA-0003258.pdf</span></a>.</span></span></span></p><p style="margin:0in">	 </p><p style="margin:0in">	<span><span><span>The DOE plans to hold an informational webinar about this FOA on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 1-2 PM ET.
