[Harvard Stem Cell Institute](http://hsci.harvard.edu/) (HSCI) researchers at [Massachusetts General](http://www.massgeneral.org/)(MGH) and [Boston Children’s](http://www.childrenshospital.org/) hospitals (BCH) for the first time have used a relatively new gene-editing technique to create what could prove to be an effective technique for blocking [HIV](http://www.niaid.nih.gov/topics/hivaids/Pages/Default.aspx) from invading and destroying patients’ immune systems.
