#  Emily Balskus wins 2013 Packard Fellowship

 [Emily Balskus](https://chemistry.harvard.edu/people/emily-balskus), Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, was awarded a [2013 Packard Fellowship](http://www.packard.org/2013/10/2013-packard-fellowships-in-science-and-engineering-awarded-to-sixteen-researchers/). The fellowship is awarded to 16 of the nation’s most innovative young scientists and engineers. Each Fellow receives a grant of $875,000 over five years to pursue their research. Professor Balskus' research focuses on discovering, understanding, and manipulating chemical reactions performed by microorganisms.
