 Dr. Carl Williams, Deputy Director of the Physical Measurement Laboratory, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will be presenting a talk on the "NIST Physical Measurement Laboratory: From Quantum Information Science to the Redefinition of the International System of Units." The talk will cover the broad range of activities in the NIST Physical Measurement Laboratory, from its basic Nobel Prize winning research to the precision measurements required to support the planned redefinition of the International System of Units in 2018. Included in the presentation will be an overview of the research grant opportunities available through NIST.

 The event is open to Harvard faculty. Lunch will be provided and space is limited so please register in advance.
